I knew coming into college that I wanted to spend a semester abroad, and my time in Costa Rica with the Latin America Studies Program was even more amazing than I had hoped. A semester abroad enables you to learn so much more about yourself and the world you share with others of so many unique cultures. It gives you an appreciation both for travel and also for your home.
This picture is of a mural at the LASP headquarters in San José, Costa Rica. Two hands of different ethnicities come together showing friendship in the face of the big wide world and all its difficulties and pre-supposed differences in the background. This mural describes through art what I learned in my study abroad and what I yearn for and live for, that people from all different backgrounds will come together in love to overcome the complications of the world.
